Have you ever heard the term “if that’s not …, nothing is”?
In this blog post, I’d like to insert the word “true”. Because, in a way, that’s exactly what has happened in our society. We’ve disregarded the most basic truth, the very existence of God. We’ve simply taken God out of the equation and expected everything else to stay the same afterwards. But tell me, when you remove the very foundation, yes, the basis for everything else, is it a wonder the rest will come stumbling down as well? When you kick the Father of Truth out, the Father of Lies comes along just as quickly!
People ask, how did this idea that “truth is relative” sneek into society, that something is “true for you, and something else is true for me”. I say it arrived at the same time as we stopped believing in God, stopped following the very first commandment, and became selfish. Because that’s what relative truths are at their core: Selfish.
I don’t want to offend anyone by this, but I’ve seen some consequences of society’s ethics, and honestly - they’re not nice.
Way too often, I find myself caught up in this way of thinking. I find that I can’t stand up for the truth anymore, that it’s too hard to stand for what I know is right in a world that’s so messed up. I’m going to press forward, however, and trust God to give me the strength I need and remind me that I am not alone. Because I know I always have the choice to either be cowardous and selfish or to stand up for what I know is truth.
I’ve made my choice, have you?
